Sometimes wedding planning just falls into place. And sometimes, it’s a wild ride. Just ask Adriana and Kevin, who had to get over their fair share of hurdles on the way to their Kiana Lodge wedding in October.
Like everyone planning a wedding during the pandemic, they had to contend with mask requirements, social distancing, ever-changing gathering rules and the challenges of travel. And just when they had all that figured out, wildfires started bearing down on their original venue in Washington’s Methow Valley. With just a few months left until their big day and their venue advising people to find a new location just in case, they embarked on a last-minute search for a new space. Kiana Lodge in Poulsbo came through with a Saturday morning opening. What was supposed to be a destination wedding halfway across the state was suddenly a Kiana Lodge wedding just a half-hour drive from my house.
As it turns out, Kiana Lodge was the perfect setting for Adriana & Kevin’s fall-themed wedding. The elegant, natural decor and beautiful views paired perfectly with their jewel toned flowers. Covered walkways kept us dry during a classic Pacific Northwest fall day with off-and-on rain showers. The ceremony was moved indoors due to rain, and the rich wood tones in the lodge provided a lovely backdrop.
The rain let up just enough after the ceremony for a quick portrait session outdoors. Adriana’s dress (from Brides For A Cause) and Kevin’s crisp black tux stood out against the lovely fall colors on the Kiana Lodge grounds.
After the portraits, Adriana & Kevin jumped right into their first dance before settling down to a delicious buffet lunch with their guests. The woodwork, skylights and gorgeous chandeliers make the dance floor a gorgeous setting for photos.
The best part about this wedding though? The caramel apple bar.
That’s right: Caramel. Apple. Bar.
Caramel and chocolate fountains, with a selection of fruit and treats to dip in them. It was magical. Who needs cake anyway? (OK, they also had a cake)
Other details I loved at this wedding: The gorgeous, vivid colors in the flowers and decor. Adriana’s stunning sapphire ring and white lace flats. Matching his & hers motorcycle helmets used instead of a guest book. Their “Happily Ever After” hand fasting ribbons.
