Whew! My first full summer wedding season is finally drawing to a close. Last weekend’s wedding was held (inside, thankfully) during a driving rainstorm; I think that means summer is really gone. When I launched this little venture in July of 2009, I never expected that within a year I’d have nearly every weekend booked during the height of wedding season. Thank you to all of my wonderful wedding clients. I really do love weddings, and it was a blast to experience so many unique events over such a short period of time. From Christina and Antonio’s dramatic nuptuals aboard a Puget Sound cruise to Miranda and Jarrod’s charming family wedding in an idyllic glade, every one was memorable.

But now it’s time to change seasons, and shift my focus away from weddings for a bit. I did some senior portraits for a young man in Gig Harbor yesterday, and we even managed to sneak in 30 minutes of photos outside between rain showers. Luc brought along his dad’s sports car for the shoot – and while we didn’t dare open the convertible top under threatening skies, I made the most of that shiny red paint job.

We also took advantage of the water view from a little park overlooking Gig Harbor.

Here’s some great news about a remarkable little girl I had the pleasure of photographing, along with her family, last year: Madigan holds party for little girl who battled cancer. Way to go, Abi!

One of my favorite photos from my day job is getting some national exposure: Mike Allen is a history professor, cowboy and author whose 2004 book shot to the top of the New York Times bestseller list a few weeks ago after getting a positive review on a national radio program. The photo recently popped up on his Amazon.com author information page. A simple portrait of a complex cowboy.
